Between 1974 to 1976, punk was developing prominence on the music scene. Bands such as the Sex Pistols, the Clash and the Damned in the UK, the Saints in Australia and the Ramones, Patti Smith and Blondie in New York. It became a major cultural phenomenon, expressing rebellion through the music and fashion. It gave rise to numerous sub genres.
